Job summary

Ymca in Chattanooga is seeking observant Lifeguards to ensure the safety of all patrons and provide a welcoming, supportive environment. The role may involve offering swimming lessons and enforcing pool rules to maintain a secure facility.

The ideal candidate is age 16 or older, holds ARC, First Aid, and CPR certifications or can obtain them on hire, and is physically fit with strong communication skills. Prior lifeguard or related experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older.
• Valid ARC certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Physically fit, agile, and strong.
• Good communication skills.
• Previous related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all activities and identifying safety issues
• Recognize signs of danger
• Perform first aid procedures when necessary
• Closely monitor pool-related activities
• Monitor weather reports to ensure safety
• Direct swimmers to exit the water in hazardous conditions
• Provide assistance to patrons
• Provide emergency care until the arrival of medical services
• Perform maintenance duties to ensure a clean and safe environment
• Explain and enforce rules, regulations, and policies
• Maintain appropriate activity reports
