Job summary

The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of pool users and to provide a welcoming environment for members. This role requires vigilance, strong swimming skills, and certification in Lifeguarding.

We offer flexible shifts seven days a week and opportunities to support swim programs and events, with a focus on safety and community service.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Strong swimming abilities and physical stamina.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or YMCA-provided Lifeguard Certification class.
• Excellent attention to detail and alertness.
• Great communication and customer service skills.
• Professional attitude and teamwork.

What You'll Do

• Ensure the safety of all pool users through constant, vigilant surveillance

• Help maintain our high standards for water quality and safety

What You'll Need

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Strong swimming abilities and physical stamina
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification class provided by the YMCA
• Excellent attention to detail and alertness
• Great communication and customer service skills
• Professional attitude and teamwork

Hours: We're open seven days a week-Various shifts available within these hours.

• Monday – Friday: 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Sunday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Physical Requirements-Position requires the ability to:

• Maintain constant vigilance and alertness
• Perform water rescues when necessary
• Hear distress signals and observe entire pool area
• Stand or sit for extended periods
• Lift and move pool equipment
