Job summary

The Jewish Community Center in Owings Mills, MD is seeking a lifeguard to protect swimmers and maintain pool safety. Responsibilities include enforcing rules, performing water testing, and assisting members with courteous service in a busy pool environment.

Candidates must hold current lifeguard certification and CPR/First Aid; cross-over to American Red Cross Lifeguarding within 90 days is required if coming from another agency. Physical demands are high and ongoing training is provided.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification from other agencies may be considered, but cross-over to American Red Cross Lifeguarding within 90 days of employment
• Current Certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer (including AED) & First Aid certifications
• Baltimore County Pool Operator's certification preferred (but not required)
• Training in Bloodborne Pathogens, hazardous materials handling (HAZMAT), Oxygen Administration, and child abuse prevention may be required

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all swimmers during shift and interpret/enforce pool rules
• Perform chemical readings and help maintain pool conditions per Maryland bathing code
• Present a positive, professional image of the JCC and provide outstanding member service
• Participate in regularly scheduled in-service training
• Maintain high personal fitness and readiness to respond to emergencies
