Job summary

The Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore is seeking lifeguards to ensure swimmer safety, enforce rules, and maintain pool hygiene. The role requires CPR for the Professional Rescuer (AED), First Aid, and lifeguard certification, with cross-over timelines and preferred experience.

Training and certification support are provided where needed. Candidates must be able to maintain pool conditions, test water chemistry, and deliver professional member service in a busy aquatic environment

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification from another agency may be accepted with crossover to ARC Lifeguarding within 90 days.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer (including AED) and First Aid certifications required.
• Baltimore County and Baltimore City Pool Operator's certification preferred; assistance available on hire.
• Training in Bloodborne Pathogens, hazardous materials handling, Oxygen Administration, and child abuse prevention may be required.
• At least 2 years lifeguarding experience preferred for full-time position; provide references.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of all swimmers during shift and enforce pool rules.
• Project a positive, professional image of the JCC to members and guests; provide outstanding member service.
• Perform chemical readings and maintain pool conditions per Maryland bathing code.
• Maintain pool area cleanliness (decks, rails, scum lines, related areas).
• Participate in regular in-service training.
• Maintain physical fitness and readiness to respond to emergencies.
• Assist Aquatics staff in other areas as needed.
