Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool and surrounding areas, promoting member safety and healthy living in line with YMCA policies. You will enforce rules, monitor swimmers, and maintain pool areas with vigilance and care.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to maintain pool safety and respond to emergencies quickly.
• Ability to monitor multiple swimmers and enforce rules consistently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe swimming conditions in pools and surrounding areas.
• Enforce safety rules and swim testing procedures.
• Perform pool maintenance and cleaning tasks to uphold high safety standards.
• Conduct daily equipment checks and ensure availability of needed gear.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and perform rescues when required.
