Job summary

The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure safe swimming conditions in the pool and surrounding areas. You will promote a safe, positive atmosphere and engage with members in line with YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include emergency response, reporting, and maintaining records, with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and customer service. On-site role with standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and varying weather conditions; wage $13.50 hourly.

Qualifications

• Lifeguard certification required (ARC or YMCA).
• Current BLS/First Aid and Oxygen Administration certifications.
• Maintain certifications and meet fitness readiness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe swimming conditions and surveil pools and decks.
• Respond to emergencies per YMCA policies and complete required reports.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
• Enforce safety rules and guidelines for pool and aquatic areas.
• Keep accurate records as required by YMCA and Health Department.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
