Job summary

R.F. Wilkinson Family YMCA in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard to ensure pool safety and high-quality service for members and guests. The role emphasizes vigilant surveillance, emergency readiness, and friendly engagement with the community.

The position requires Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard certification, CPR/First Aid/AED, and background checks. You will join a team that supports youth development, healthy living and social responsibility within a values-based environment.

Qualifications

• Must have Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard certification.
• CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification required.
• Complete trainings including NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment.
• Criminal background check and child protective services check required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 180 degree pool/zone scanning at all times.
• Know and follow pool rules and safety guidelines.
• Complete chemical checks and take action as needed.
• Ensure emergency equipment is ready and accessible.
• Promote YMCA mission and community engagement.
• Lead in emergency situations and report incidents per plan.
