Job summary

Lake Superior YMCA in Grand Marais, MN is seeking a part-time Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas, and to promote member safety and engagement.

This role reports to the Aquatics and Membership Coordinator and requires minimum age 16, CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, and YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications; the YMCA offers training and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16.
• Certifications: CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid, and Oxygen (preferred).
• Ability to maintain certification readiness and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Maintains good relationships with members and staff.
• Ensures safety rules and health department guidelines are followed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA/state health dept.
