Job summary

Cook County YMCA is seeking a Lifeguard to maintain safe swimming conditions at the Grand Marais pool and surrounding areas. This role requires constant vigilance, adherence to safety procedures, and friendly member engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Certifications: CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid, and Oxygen (preferred).
• Ability to maintain certification-level readiness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area.
• Review emergency procedures and respond to emergencies per YMCA policies.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
• Ensure safety rules are followed in the pool and aquatic area.
• Keep accurate records as required by YMCA and health codes.
