Contribute
- Course Instruction: Facilitate high-quality American Red Cross CPR , First Aid and AED courses for Wellness and Recreation student employees.
- Course Instruction: Plan, prepare, and instruct safe and effective American Red Cross courses.
- Educational Delivery: Provide fun and motivational instruction and education on how to apply classroom knowledge as a lifeguard.
- Skill Assessment: Evaluate participant performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure all certification requirements are met.
- Best Practices: Stay current with American Red Cross best practices.
- Classroom Logistics: Set up and break down the classroom for each course.
- Skill Audits: Assist in facilitating emergency response skill audits.
- Inventory & Records: Assist with maintaining first aid supply equipment inventories. Maintain and organize participant information and paperwork.

Other Work/Responsibilities
- Guideline Enforcement: Understand and enforce Wellness and Recreation and area-specific guidelines.
- Risk Management: Knowledge and implementation of the emergency action plan.
- Training: Attend required training.
- Community: Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants, and guests.
- Support: Perform other related duties to support the overall functioning of the department.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Indoors in a non-air-conditioned space.
- Physical: Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting weight up to 40 lbs regularly (transporting manikins, AED trainers and equipment). During instruction, the instructor must possess the physical ability to perform and demonstrate all American Red Cross skills, including sustained chest compressions and kneeling on hard surfaces for extended periods.

- Schedule: Flexibility in your availability is needed to potentially work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and breaks.
- Safety: Exposure to potential safety hazards and adherence to the emergency action plan to mitigate risk.

Required License or Certification
- Eligibility: Current full-time NC State student, demonstrated by enrollment in at least 12 undergraduate or 9 graduate credit hours.
- Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification and an American Red Cross Lifeguard certification should be current or obtained before position commencement.
