Job summary

The Lifeguard In-Training at White Bear YMCA will shadow certified lifeguards while working to obtain required certification within 90 days of hire. The role emphasizes safety, member service, and a positive pool environment in line with YMCA policies.

The position offers paid training, a pathway to Lifeguard certification, a flexible schedule, and a free Y membership. Must be at least 15, able to pass a swim skills assessment, and prepared to work morning openings and daytime shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 15.
• Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist lifeguards and learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Know, understand, and consistently communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water and whirlpool.
