Job summary

Emma B. Howe Northtown Family YMCA in Coon Rapids, MN is hiring a Lifeguard II to supervise the aquatics area, prevent accidents, assist swimmers, and respond to emergencies. The role focuses on safety, customer service, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Current nationally accredited lifeguard certification.
• Current CPR + AED for the Professional Rescuer annually, First Aid certifications and Oxygen Certification.
• Lifeguard Supervisor certification per Model Aquatics Health Code requirements.
• Physically able to perform lifeguard duties.
• Strong verbal communication and ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant pool surveillance and respond to emergencies immediately.
• Provide supervision for lifeguards under 18 when needed.
• Give shift directions to Lifeguard I team members.
• Ensure rotations follow the safety plan and coordinate incident reporting.
• Assist onboarding of new lifeguard staff and communicate policies consistently.
• Coordinate team response and patron care during emergencies, including first aid.
• Identify hazards and work with management to resolve them.
• Attend monthly in-service training.
