An established industry player in community recreation is seeking dedicated lifeguards for the Holmes Aquatic Center. This seasonal role involves ensuring the safety of patrons, providing exceptional customer service, and performing rescues and first aid as necessary. Lifeguards will monitor pool activities, enforce rules, and maintain cleanliness in the facility. The position requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Responsible for continually observing patrons' activities to ensure their safety and performing rescue/first aid techniques as needed at the Holmes Aquatic Center.
Provide exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers.
Respond to and resolve customer issues and requests.
Responsible for continually observing activities of patrons to ensure their safety.
Perform rescues and administer first aid and medical care as needed to guests, employees, and supervisors.
Monitor the swimming pool and surrounding area during the period of operation. Explain, clarify, and enforce pool rules.
Responsible for cleaning the pool and surrounding area and facilities.
Attend weekly trainings and in-services.
Assist in aquatic programming.
Follow established City of University Park policies and procedures.
Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance.
If hired by the Parks & Recreation Department as a seasonal employee, I understand that I must adhere to and will be required to participate in the following:
Attend mandatory drug testing.
Attend mandatory orientation.
Attend all paid pre-season training sessions.
Attend all mandatory paid in-service trainings as scheduled.
Be at work on time for every scheduled shift.
Report to work and remain free from being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
Wear staff uniform only while on duty.
Work weekdays, weekends, holidays, opening and closing shifts, and Holmes Aquatic Center special events.
Be willing to substitute for others.
Be willing to work together for the better of the team.
Maintain a clean work environment in and around the facility.
Be available for a minimum of 70 work days during the season.
Knowledge & Skills
Must be at least 16 years of age.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Working Conditions
Work is performed outdoors and involves direct contact with the general public. The work schedule of a Lifeguard I will include opening and closing shifts during weekdays and weekends. Holiday work is required. Work may involve being around harmful chemicals.
Job Type - Seasonal
In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is not eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 in a designated work week.
Schedule
The City of University Park is currently accepting applications for Aquatic Positions. All positions require the ability to work flexible schedules up to 40 hours per week, and the availability to work Sunday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. through 9:00 p.m., including holidays and special events. Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
