Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of swimmers and guests in the aquatic facility. The role emphasizes vigilance, clear communication, and swift emergency response to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

The position is Part-Time Plus (20+ hours/week) with non-exempt status. Base pay ranges from $11.25 to $12.50 per hour, plus a free YMCA membership and certification support. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ years old at time of application.
• Strong swimming ability with endurance for rescues.
• Able to stay alert in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor pool areas at all times to ensure safety.
• Enforce facility rules with a professional, welcoming attitude.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
• Assist swimmers in distress and provide appropriate aid.
• Conduct routine safety checks of pool, equipment, and surroundings.
• Maintain accurate incident and maintenance records.
• Provide excellent customer service to members and guests.
