Job summary

YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure the safety of all pool patrons. The role involves vigilant supervision, adherence to emergency procedures, and collaboration with staff to provide excellent service to members and guests.

Responsibilities include enforcing pool rules, maintaining equipment, and participating in safety trainings and YMCA fundraising efforts as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old with required certifications.
• YMCA lifeguard certification or switch to YMCA within 6 months of hire.
• CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification required.
• Complete trainings such as NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, and Sexual Harassment on hire and annually.
• Criminal background and Child Protective Services checks required.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission and goals of the YMCA.
• Promote a professional work environment with core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
• Lead to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
• Maintain constant vigilance and prevent lapses in concentration.
• Know and follow emergency procedures; respond immediately per YMCA policies and document reports.
