Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the seasonal Lifeguard position at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well‑being of pool patrons including students, faculty, staff, alumni, coaches, administrators, RISD students & faculty, and the general community.
High School Diploma or GED.
Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent.
Ability to act swiftly in emergency situations using aquatic rescue equipment.
Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding skills to manage breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until Brown emergency services arrive.
Ability to make quick decisions and take decisive action.
Assertive enforcement of facility rules and regulations in a professional, customer‑service‑oriented manner.
Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
Leadership and public relations skills.
Must be responsible, alert, dependable, and on time for scheduled shifts.
All division employees must demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and comply with NCAA and Ivy League regulations. Any violations must be reported to the compliance office.
Coaching staff members must receive annual NCAA recruiting education and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.
