Job summary

Kaplen JCC On The Palisades in Tenafly, NJ is seeking a Lifeguard to join the Aquatics Team. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, welcoming pool environment, vigilant surveillance, and quick emergency response.

Responsibilities include enforcing pool policies, responding to incidents, attending staff trainings, and working varied shifts from early morning to evening. Prior lifeguarding experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain alert, attentive, and professional.

As a valued member of the Aquatics Team, the Lifeguard is committed to advancing the mission and vision of the JCC by ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable aquatic environment for all members and guests. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining vigilant surveillance of pool areas, proactively preventing accidents, and responding swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.

Responsibilities and Opportunities

• The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of patrons in and around the pool
• observing and enforcing all aquatic policies, rules and regulations
• Recognizing and responding efficiently in emergencies
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
• Various shifts available- early morning, daytime and evening
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $16.75-$18 commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Must hold valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification
• Ability to remain alert, attentive, and professional.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous lifeguarding or aquatics experience is preferred but not required
