Job summary

Kaplen JCC On The Palisades in Tenafly, NJ is seeking a Lifeguard to ensure a safe, welcoming aquatic environment for members and guests. You will monitor pool areas, prevent accidents, and respond swiftly to emergencies, while providing excellent customer service.

Shifts vary, including early morning, daytime, and evening. Must hold ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certifications and work well in a team-oriented aquatics setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain alert, attentive, and professional.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Lifeguarding or aquatics experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vigilant surveillance of pool areas and prevent accidents.
• Enforce all aquatic policies, rules and regulations.
• Recognize and respond to emergencies quickly and effectively.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
• Provide excellent customer service and assist patrons.

Principal Responsibilities:

As a valued member of the Aquatics Team, the Lifeguard is committed to advancing the mission and vision of the JCC by ensuring a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable aquatic environment for all members and guests. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining vigilant surveillance of pool areas, proactively preventing accidents, and responding swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES

• The primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of patrons in and around the pool
• observing and enforcing all aquatic policies, rules and regulations
• Recognizing and responding efficiently in emergencies
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
• Providing excellent customer service
• Various shifts available- early morning, daytime and evening
• Other duties as assigned

SALARY RANGE: $16.75-$18 commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong communication and teamwork skills
