Job summary

Great Lakes Water Authority is seeking a project management professional to support the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) through full project lifecycles from inception to close-out.

The role involves scope, schedule, and cost control for water treatment and conveyance structures, coordinating with the CIP Controls Team, and supervising junior staff across multiple disciplines. A PE license in MI and PMP are required, with 4+ years of PM experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or other related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineer License in the State of Michigan.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from a recognized accredited body.
• The ability to obtain one of these credentials within 12 months of joining GLWA.
• Minimum of four (4) years of project management or related experience in the field and/or job assignment.

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, schedule and budget for project delivery and report.
• Coordinate scope, schedule, and budget with the CIP Program Controls Team.
• Perform assessment, design and construction tasks for water treatment, storage and structural related facility-based projects.
• Communicate with all levels of the organization and develop internal and external contacts to meet operational needs.
• Manage project activities of all disciplines, operations and maintenance team members.
• Develop baseline forecasts of overall project cost and schedule and forecasts for completion.
• Ensure adherence to CIP Program methodologies for design, construction management, controls, and documentation.
• Coordinate with Procurement to monitor procurements.
• Develop project plan, budget and schedule according to WBS.
• Monitor and mitigate project risks and communicate implications to CIP Leadership.
• Monitor and enforce quality per PMP and construction administration.
• Monitor contractor adherence to quality plan per PMP.
• Ensure change management procedures are followed.
• Establish planned cash flow and monitor project performance.
• Collaborate with operating groups to prevent scope creep.
• Analyze variances and initiate mitigative actions for timely completion.
• Work with contractors to meet cost controls and deliverables.
• Provide analyses, indicators, and reports to management and stakeholders.
• Manage one or more projects and allocate resources.
• Present status reports to management; advise leadership.
• Respond to project information requests.
• Stay current with industry trends and participate in professional organizations.
• Use PMIS to monitor and control performance.
• Participate in strategic CIP planning and coordinate with units across the organization.
• Mentor team members and facilitate project closeout.
