Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Lifecycle Project Manager to lead Capital Improvement Plans for the Wastewater team. You will oversee projects from initiation through completion, managing scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating with CIP controls and operations teams.

Hybrid work in Detroit, MI offers three days in the office and two days remote. The role requires a Civil/Environmental/Water/wastewater engineering background, 7+ years PM experience, and a PMP or Michigan PE within 12 months.

Qualifications

  • Project management experience in civil/environmental/water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • PMP Certification or Michigan PE, or ability to obtain within 12 months of joining.
  • At least 7+ years of project management experience in municipal/utility/public-sector environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead scope, schedule, and budget for CIP projects and report progress.
  • Coordinate with CIP Program Controls Team on scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Communicate with all levels and maintain relationships with operations staff.
  • Manage activities of all disciplines, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Develop baseline cost/schedule forecasts and monitor changes.

Job Title: Lifecycle Project Manager
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Project Manager with strong analytical, technical, and project management capabilities. In this role, you will support the Wastewater team in successfully delivering clients’ Capital Improvement Plans (CIP) by overseeing and managing projects from initiation through completion.

Responsibilities
  • Champion and manage scope, schedule, and budget for project delivery and report.
  • Coordinate scope, schedule, and budget with the CIP Program Controls Team.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, negotiate and develop solid internal and external contacts, and establish and maintain working relationships with operations staff impacted by the project to ensure the project meets operational needs.
  • Manage the project activities of all disciplines, operations, and maintenance team members.
  • Participate with the project team to develop realistic baseline forecasts of the overall project cost and schedule, as well as projections of cost and schedule to complete.
  • Ensure the project team adheres to the CIP Program’s standard methodologies for design and construction management, project controls, public outreach, permitting and regulatory oversight, document management, and assurances as described in the Program Management Plan (PMP).
  • Participate with the project team in developing the project plan, establish the project budget and schedule according to the program work breakdown structure.
  • Manage the process for evaluating, tracking, and mitigating project risks and communicating cost and/or schedule implications to CIP Program Leadership Team Members.
  • Work with the project team to establish planned cash flow of project expenditures.
  • Monitor and manage project performance relative to planned baseline and approved changes and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with operating groups to develop project charters, including scope, schedule, and budget, so that scope creep is avoided.
  • Work with contractors to ensure project cost control expectations and deliverables are met.
  • Use the Project Management Information System to monitor and control project performance.
Essential Skills
  • Project management experience, with a background in civil, environmental, or water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • PMP Certification or Michigan PE, or the ability to obtain one of these credentials within 12 months of joining.
  • At least 7+ years of project management experience supporting engineering or construction projects, ideally within municipal, utility, or public-sector environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with project coordination.
  • Proficiency in using project management information systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Work Environment

Work is performed within an office, plant environment, remote sites, or other locations. Employees may be exposed to dust and electrical connections, and frequent work with computer equipment. The role offers a hybrid working environment: 3 Days in Office, 2 Days Working From Home.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Detroit, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $111597.70 - $187445.49/yr.

Comprehensive benefits package effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment. This includes health, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and team member discount programs.
