Job description

The Senior Lifecycle Marketing Strategist drives innovative lifecycle marketing strategies, sophisticated customer journey mapping, and hands‑on campaign execution across key enterprise accounts. Sitting just below the Director level, this is a hands‑on, client-facing role for someone who can own a sophisticated lifecycle marketing program from strategy through implementation.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing customer journey strategy, working directly inside CRMs and emails ESP, building campaigns and automations, presenting recommendations to mid‑and enterprise stakeholders, and ensuring programs launch successfully. Serving as a key strategic and technical owner of the account, you will work alongside Ignite’s lifecycle, creative, project management, and client leadership teams, as well as mentor junior team members on strategic best practices, technical execution, and client management.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Lifecycle & CRM Strategy

  • Lead lifecycle marketing strategy across multiple customer and audience segments for key enterprise accounts.

  • Develop lifecycle frameworks covering onboarding, engagement, habit‑building, retention, reactivation, and other key customer stages.

  • Map end‑to‑end customer journeys, including triggers, messaging, sequencing, cadence, personalization, and channel strategy.

  • Identify and prioritize new lifecycle campaigns and automation opportunities based on customer behavior and business objectives.

  • Develop strategies across email, SMS, push notifications, in‑app messaging, web layers, message centers, activity feeds, and other CRM channels.

  • Conduct competitive CRM and lifecycle analysis and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

  • Serve as a high‑touch strategic partner, aligning campaign strategies with core business KPIs, retention goals, and audience engagement metrics.

Campaign Development & Execution

  • Own campaign strategy from initial concept through deployment within major CRM platforms.

  • Partner with creative resources to develop high‑performing email and lifecycle experiences.

  • Translate Figma designs into scalable templates and campaigns.

  • Develop campaign briefs, messaging frameworks, customer journeys, and testing strategies.

  • Manage recurring campaign production and execution.

  • Establish strong QA processes to ensure accuracy across content, links, segmentation, personalization, rendering, and campaign logic.

  • Develop testing plans across messaging, creative, audiences, timing, offers, and journey structure.

Enterprise Client Strategy & Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a senior lifecycle marketing advisor to enterprise client stakeholders.

  • Lead strategy discussions, working sessions, campaign planning meetings, and presentations.

  • Translate complex technical and lifecycle concepts into clear business recommendations.

  • Work effectively with global and regional stakeholders across marketing, creative, technology, analytics, and operations.

  • Proactively identify opportunities and bring recommendations to the client rather than waiting for direction.

  • Utilize expert communication and diplomacy skills to manage client expectations, navigate conflict, and advocate for industry best practices.

Team Mentorship & Process Enablement

  • Act as a senior technical and strategic mentor to mid‑and junior‑level lifecycle marketers, guiding their work, improving their technical proficiency, and elevating strategy across the department.

  • Provide quality control and strategic oversight on client deliverables produced by team members.

  • Establish and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), frameworks, and best‑practice guides to streamline department operations and automate work.

  • Partner with cross‑functional teams (Design, Content, Analytics, Paid Media) and support department Directors in identifying operational bottlenecks and process improvements.

Thought Leadership & Trend Monitoring

  • Stay ahead of industry trends, privacy shifts, regulatory changes (deliverability/compliance), and emerging marketing technology.

  • Act as an internal and external thought leader by sharing insights, creating internal documentation, and contributing to agency knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

  • Assist sales and leadership teams with technical audits, opportunity assessments, and strategic pitches for prospective client accounts as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Agency Experience: Digital marketing agency experience required.

  • Experience: 6–8 years of hands‑on experience designing, executing, building, and optimizing end‑to‑end lifecycle marketing programs (automation flows, advanced segmentation, dynamic personalization, customer journeys).

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Direct, hands‑on experience working inside lifecycle platforms (building campaigns, automations, and customer journeys) as well as experience with other major ESPs/CDPs/CRMs (e.g., Klaviyo, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, ActiveCampaign).

    • Ability to translate Figma designs into scalable templates and execution assets.

    • Experience strategizing and executing across multi‑channel CRM touchpoints: Email, SMS, Push notifications, In‑App messaging, Web Layers, Message Centers, and Activity Feeds.

    • Strong proficiency in Google Analytics (GA4) and lifecycle analytics/attribution.

  • Client & Project Management: Exceptional presentation ability with deep experience leading strategy and communicating complex technical recommendations to enterprise client stakeholders.

  • Project Tools: Experience using project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, ClickUp).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with HTML/CSS for email template editing, template customization, and troubleshooting.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or guiding junior lifecycle marketers or marketing specialists.

  • Familiarity with deliverability monitoring tools (e.g., Everest, Validity, GlockApps).

Work Environment & Key Competencies
  • Hands‑on Strategic Execution: Equally capable of crafting high‑level strategic frameworks and rolling up sleeves to execute campaigns inside ESP/CDP tools.

  • Self‑Motivated & Accountable: High degree of autonomy, ownership, and internal drive to deliver top‑tier results.

  • Adaptable: Thrives in a fast‑paced agency setting, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines with composure.
