Qualifications

• Extensive life underwriting expertise with authority on complex, high-value cases.
• Minimum 5 years of life underwriting experience and proven leadership.
• Knowledge of automated underwriting platforms (RHO, PIA) and quality control.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to collaborate with reinsurers.
• Ability to coach underwriters to adopt digital tools and workflows.
• Commitment to ethical decision-making, regulatory compliance, and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert judgment on highly complex and escalated cases with guideline consistency.
• Oversee adjudication during peak volumes and promote analytics usage.
• Lead and develop a team of underwriters, set priorities, ensure SLA adherence.
• Use analytics dashboards to monitor mortality, placement, cycle time, and referrals.
• Pilot new underwriting technologies and document business cases.
• Coach and upskill underwriters in analytics and customer-centric practices.
• Negotiate appeals using judgment to go outside guidelines when needed.
• Coordinate with field force and home office to gather information and communicate decisions.
