Job summary

Springfield Public Schools seeks a Part-Time Special Education Assistant for the Community Transition Program (Brattain House) to work with 18-21 year old students in Life Skills. The 7.0 hour day runs Monday to Friday during the school calendar, from 8:00 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m. Under licensed teacher supervision, you will provide instructional support, behavior management, and 1:1 or small group assistance, with curriculum adaptations for students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher (attach diploma) or two years post-secondary with 72 credit hours/48 semester units.
• High school diploma or GED plus ability to demonstrate reading/language arts, writing and mathematics readiness.
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and complete Safe Schools training.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional activities under licensed teacher supervision.
• Assist in health room with basic first aid as needed.
• Provide 1:1 or small group support, including behavioral, social/emotional, or medical fragility needs.
• Maintain records and forms; assist with attendance and data entry.
• Assist with transition planning and student supervision in various settings.
