Job summary

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work well with children with disabilities.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Experience working with children/students, parents, or persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of students with disabilities and furnish to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground and community.
• Assist teacher in maintaining, copying, transferring confidential folders as required.
• Assist special needs students with individual tasks including transferring to/from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, bathroom needs.
• Assist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention.
• Adapt to each student’s medical, physical, communicative, emotional, and safety needs as directed.
• Prepare materials for individuals or small groups to develop skills under teacher direction.
• Uphold and enforce school rules, regulations, and policies.
• Participate in staff development and events as assigned.
