Job summary

The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a Life Skills Development Coordinator to develop and oversee educational and vocational opportunities for clients, including work readiness and life skills training. This role leads curriculum development and professional development initiatives for clinical programs.

You will register and monitor pre/post-test literacy, develop community education referrals, and build relationships with external organizations like

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or social work or related field; master’s degree preferred.
Experience leading educational groups and interfacing with clients.
Experience in human services strongly preferred; evidence of scholarly activity and professional development.

Responsibilities

Develops and oversees life skills and educational opportunities for clients (interviewing skills, nutrition, wellness, family life, relationships).
Develop IEPs for clients addressing educational needs (GED prep, class enrollment, testing, CEUs).
Provide financial restoration classes and resume-building support.
Schedule, outreach, assessment, testing, staff/volunteer training, and other instruction.
Attend meetings and coordinate transportation to job fairs; stay updated on education trends.
