Job summary

North Jersey Friendship House, Inc. in Hackensack, NJ is seeking a Day Program staff member to support individuals with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities in building skills for independence and community involvement.

Job description

Department: Day Program

FTE/Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30am - 4:00pm; 37.5 hours a week)

Location: Hackensack, NJ

Pay: $19.00

Primary Function:

Responsible for supporting individuals with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities in the development of skills needed for greater independent functioning and community integration. Support will be provided to the individuals in the community, in social and vocational activities as well as classroom-type settings.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Maintains confidentiality and immediately reports to management breaches in confidentiality
  • Practices job requirements on an accurate, timely and regular basis
  • Observes and maintains appropriate professional boundaries with members, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, as assigned
  • Meets relevant continuing educational/training requirement
  • Completes all required documentation/paperwork accurately and within established time frames
  • Completes all assigned College of Direct Support and Relias trainings, as assigned
Essential Functions Include:
  • Prepare and lead meaningful groups to facilitate member's personal, social, vocational and independent growth
  • Assist members with following their daily activity schedule
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, programs, businesses and employers to ensure ongoing connections for community inclusion and learning opportunities
  • Work with program manager and plan recreational and activities of daily living outings
  • Drive up to a 12-passenger van to transport members to and from program and/or community activities as needed
  • Supervise members on community activities and ensure their safety
  • Attend and participate in supervision sessions with program manager as scheduled
  • Supervise and job coach members in training with community business partners as needed.
  • Document program member's progress towards ISP goals and objectives according to DDD and Medicaid guidelines
  • Work with Program Manager on review of members' progress and recommendations for new goals and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Manager or Director of Day and Community Services
Requirements:
