Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine seeks a Licensing Associate, Life Sciences to manage disclosure and transfer of NYU technologies from NYU Abu Dhabi to the marketplace. You will solicit disclosures, assess commercial potential, identify partners, and help form startups.

The role works with the Director, Technology Transfer and NYUAD researchers, with adjusted NYC hours to accommodate Abu Dhabi researchers. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or engineering required.
• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet with researchers to learn of their research and solicit invention disclosures.
• Evaluate invention disclosures for commercial potential and license potential.
• Prepare non-confidential marketing summaries of inventions for circulation and posting.
• Identify potential commercial partners for licensing NYU inventions and/or funding NYU research.
• Draft and negotiate confidentiality and material transfer agreements with companies.
• Review grants and contracts for new technologies and coordinate with NYUAD teams on IP protection.
• Research and evaluate active R&D interests of companies and schedule meetings for licensing discussions.
• Assist in negotiation of IP agreements with companies.
• Engage with NYUAD's entrepreneurship teams to foster spin-off/start-up creation.
• Monitor licensees’ milestones and maintain data in IP database.
• Adhere to NYULH and NYUAD policies and standards.
