Job summary

University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia seeks an Associate Director, Technology Licensing to lead relationships with faculty and researchers, evaluate tech disclosures, and negotiate licensing and option agreements. You will guide commercialization strategies and engage industry partners, supporting sponsored research and other agreements as needed.

Minimum requirements include a Master’s in a life sciences field with 5–7 years of relevant experience; a PhD is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's and 5-7 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of research environment, preferably in higher education.
• Excellent customer service skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead relationships with faculty and researchers in PSOM departments.
• Evaluate disclosures for commercial potential and go/no-go decisions.
• Engage with industry partners; perform due diligence and negotiate licensing agreements.
• Develop commercialization strategies and perform market analysis.
• Plan outreach to educate faculty about technology commercialization and PCI resources.
• Mentor junior technology licensing officers and trainees.
