Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking a Life Sciences Lab Technician to support instructional laboratories in biology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and chemistry as needed. The position focuses on laboratory preparation and teardown, equipment maintenance, inventory management, safety, and general laboratory organization for the academic year.

Under supervision of the Program Chair or Dean, you will set up and tear down labs, prepare solutions and specimens, maintain

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or higher in biology, life sciences, or chemistry preferred.
• Experience in a science laboratory setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with microscopes, microbiology techniques, and safety procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down instructional laboratories and practicals.
• Prepare solutions, media, cultures, and specimens as directed.
• Support microbiology lab preparation, sterilization, and waste disposal.
• Maintain and troubleshoot microscopes and lab equipment.
• Maintain inventories of slides, models, chemicals, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper documentation.
