Job summary

Engtal is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex higher education and life sciences construction projects in Boston and surrounding areas. You will oversee projects from preconstruction through closeout, including ground-up academic buildings, lab fit-outs, and campus renovations, often in occupied environments.

The role requires strong management of MEP systems, cost controls, and collaboration with clients, design teams, and field leadership to deliver on schedule and budget

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in construction project management.
• Proven experience managing higher education, laboratory, or life sciences projects ($20M+)
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, lab build-outs, and technically complex interiors
• Experience working in occupied buildings and phased construction environments preferred
• Familiarity with the Boston market and institutional client landscape
• Strong financial acumen and client-facing communication skills
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling efforts
• Oversee subcontractor buyout and procurement strategy, with a focus on specialized trades
• Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact
• Coordinate with Superintendents to drive field execution, especially in active campus environments
• Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and maintain strict cost controls
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements (lab, cleanroom, MEP systems)
• Drive project financial performance, reporting, and risk management
