Job summary

Abridge is seeking an Associate General Counsel - Life Sciences to serve as the first legal counsel for the new life sciences business. You will embed legal and compliance into the product lifecycle, advising product, engineering, and strategy teams while ensuring HIPAA, privacy, and other regulatory requirements.

This hybrid role is open to candidates in New York or San Francisco, requiring 3 days/week in SF or NY offices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of legal experience, including 2+ years in a dedicated life sciences role.
• Experience with pharmaceutical/biotech products.
• Ability to translate regulatory concepts into practical guidance for non-legal teams.
• Ability to work independently with strong business judgement.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and strategy teams.
• Creativity in solving novel legal matters; ability to craft new processes if needed.
• Familiarity with AI trends, especially in healthcare tech.

Responsibilities

• Serve as product counsel across the life sciences team (product, engineering, strategy).
• Draft and negotiate agreements; advise on contracting strategy.
• Develop zero-to-one life sciences legal strategy and guardrails.
• Provide actionable guidance on regulatory, privacy, and compliance (HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA).
• Advise on healthcare regulatory compliance (FDA, FTC, FCA, AKS, state laws).
• Partner with policy, marketing, IT, finance, and commercial teams to align risk.
• Support privacy impact assessments and data governance efforts.
• Coordinate with external counsel to resolve issues quickly.
• Monitor AI, data use, and healthcare technology regulations.
