Job summary

Anthropic seeks a Life Sciences Counsel to partner with researchers and the legal team in a fast-moving, regulated environment. You will embed with the research teams, handling complex agreements and regulatory risk across biopharma collaborations and licensing.

You will translate legal risk into actionable guidance for scientists and business partners, manage outside counsel, and help shape policy as AI advances in life sciences. NY hybrid work relied upon.

Qualifications

• JD with active bar membership in at least one U.S. state (NY or CA preferred).
• Deep regulatory understanding of life sciences tools, products, and processes.
• Experience negotiating multi-party research, licensing, and commercialization agreements.
• Ability to translate complex legal risk into practical guidance for scientists and business teams.
• Experience coordinating outside counsel across FDA/regulatory, IP, privacy, and export controls.

Responsibilities

• Advise life science research teams on complex research, development, and commercial matters worldwide.
• Drive high deal volume across collaborations, licenses, and related agreements.
• Identify regulatory risks and design scalable guidance for fast-growing life sciences efforts.
• Collaborate with the broader Legal department to marshal needed subject matter expertise.
• Provide strategic guidance to leadership on emerging AI developments affecting life sciences.
