Job summary

Abridge is seeking an experienced privacy lawyer to join its in-house legal team. You will promote a culture of privacy and security across the organization, advising engineering, product, and commercial teams to ensure global privacy compliance.

The role involves scaling privacy programs, embedding privacy in product development, and working with security and commercial teams to safeguard data. This hybrid role requires SF or NYC office presence 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of legal experience at a technology company or technology-focused law firm.
• Experience leading, developing, advising, and evaluating programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
• A practical, risk-based approach and the ability to balance legal, regulatory, business, and customer considerations.

Responsibilities

• Advise teams on privacy laws related to clinical data, AI, ML, product development, and the responsible use of sensitive information.
• Scale privacy programs aligned with HIPAA and other U.S. privacy frameworks (CCPA/CPRA, biometric laws, state privacy legislation).
• Embed privacy into product development by partnering with Product, Design, Engineering, Data Science/Analytics, Security, and Marketing.
• Support data sharing and ecosystem questions with governance and contractual expectations in partnership with commercial counsel.
• Monitor evolving privacy, cybersecurity, healthcare, and AI regulations and translate developments into clear recommendations.
• Maintain and update privacy and security policies and notices.
• Negotiate commercial terms, including BAAs.
• Build and improve scalable tools, templates, and training for builder teams.
• Establish strong relationships with stakeholders to reach practical outcomes.
• Communicate Privacy Team’s mission to internal partners and stakeholders.
• Learn and grow as part of a collaborative Privacy Team.
