Crowell & Moring LLP is seeking a Life Sciences Counsel (Professional Track) to join our Boston, New York, or San Francisco practice. You will counsel life sciences companies, investment firms, and research institutions on discovery, development, manufacturing, and commercialization of therapeutics and related tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in life sciences transactional practice at a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Deep experience with clinical-stage and commercial-stage manufacturing, licensing, and supply chain agreements for therapeutics.
• Familiarity with biology and chemistry principles relevant to pharmaceutical design and function.
• Understanding of the regulatory framework governing therapeutic development and commercialization.
• Knowledge of intellectual property licensing and biotechnology business development practices.
• Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support transactions involving manufacturing, licensing, and supply chain arrangements for therapeutic products.
• Draft and negotiate complex agreements for biologics, gene therapies, and other pharmaceutical products.
• Counsel clients on strategic goals, identify key issues, and develop practical solutions.
• Work with technical operations, quality, business development, senior management, and boards of directors at biotech and pharma companies and CDMOs.
• Manage multiple matters and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and contribute to knowledge sharing across the practice.

Job Description

Crowell & Moring is seeking a professional track counsel to join our Life Sciences practice in Boston, New York, or San Francisco. This individual will work with our team to counsel life science companies, investment firms, academic research institutions, and NGOs involved in the discovery, development, manufacture, and commercialization of novel therapeutics, devices, digital health and research tools, and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support transactions involving clinical-stage and commercial-stage manufacturing, manufacturing technology licensing, and related supply chain arrangements for therapeutic products
• Draft and negotiate complex agreements for biologics, gene therapies, large-molecule products, and other pharmaceutical products, including manufacturing services, quality, supply, and licensing arrangements
• Counsel clients on strategic goals, identify and prioritize key legal and business issues, and develop practical, clearly documented solutions
• Work directly with technical operations, quality, business development, senior management, and boards of directors at biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and CDMOs
• Manage multiple matters and tight deadlines in a fast-paced client-service environment
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers while contributing to knowledge sharing across the practice

Qualifications

• Deep experience with clinical-stage and commercial-stage manufacturing, manufacturing technology licensing, and supply chain agreements for therapeutic products
• Familiarity with biology and chemistry principles relevant to pharmaceutical design and function
• Understanding of the regulatory framework governing therapeutic development and commercialization
• Knowledge of intellectual property licensing and biotechnology business development practices
• Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
• Sophisticated communication skills and confidence interacting directly with technical, operational, and senior business stakeholders
• Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and deliver pragmatic advice under tight deadlines
• Commitment to teamwork, knowledge sharing, and the development of junior lawyers

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance to applicable laws. The salary range for this position is $227,000 to $261,000. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave. The salary for this position may vary based on market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
