Crowell & Moring LLP seeks a Life Sciences Associate on the Professional Track to join our Boston or New York team. This role counsels life science companies, investment firms, academic researchers, and NGOs on discovery, development, and commercialization of therapeutics and diagnostics.

You will draft and negotiate complex agreements, advise on strategic goals, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across global offices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of transactional experience at a law firm or in-house department.
• Familiarity with biology and chemistry principles relevant to pharma.
• Understanding of regulatory framework for therapeutic development.
• Knowledge of intellectual property licensing and biotech business development.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize, learn quickly, and provide pragmatic business advice.
• Proficiency with common technology tools and collaboration across teams.

Job Description

Crowell & Moring is seeking a professional track associate to join our Life Sciences practice in Boston or New York. This individual will work with our team to counsel life science companies, investment firms, academic research institutions, and NGOs involved in the discovery, development, manufacture, and commercialization of novel therapeutics, devices, digital health and research tools, and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate clinical trial and other R&D agreements for biotechnology and pharmaceutical clients
• Help clients identify strategic goals, prioritize key issues, and develop practical, clearly documented solutions
• Communicate directly with clinical, R&D, and senior management teams at biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, academic institutions, and research hospitals
• Support large, multinational clinical studies as well as small and mid-sized research projects
• Manage multiple matters and tight deadlines in a fast-paced client-service environment
• Collaborate with lawyers and contracts professionals and contribute to the team by sharing knowledge, experience, and perspectives

Qualifications

• 2+ years of transactional experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department with strong training and supervision
• Demonstrated familiarity with biology and chemistry principles relevant to pharmaceutical design and function
• Familiarity with the regulatory framework for therapeutic development and commercialization
• Understanding of intellectual property licensing and biotechnology business development practices
• Excellent legal drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize competing demands, learn quickly, and provide pragmatic, business-focused advice
• Proficiency with common technology tools and the ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary team

Our Firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practice in accordance to applicable laws. The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $209,000. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave. The salary for this position may vary based on market data, an applicant’s skills and prior experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other factors.
