Job summary

Gift of Life Donor Program in Philadelphia coordinates organ and tissue donation to provide hope to patients awaiting transplant. The role requires compassionate professionals with critical care/trauma RN experience or substantial paramedic leadership/teaching background.

Qualifications

Must live in the metro Philadelphia area; Philadelphia role.
This position requires at least three years of critical care/trauma experience as an RN or six years as an EMT-P with leadership/teaching experience.
ACLS or PALS certification is preferred.
Must be able to drive in adverse weather and to hospitals within the service area.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the entire organ and tissue donor process from on-site response to clinical management.
Collaborate with the health care team to treat the donor and family with respect and compassion.
Rotate 48-hour on-call shifts following orientation, then 4 days off.
Evaluate potential donors based on medical history and coordinate referrals.
Discuss donation options with families and obtain consent; ensure all approvals and paperwork are in place.
Medically manage donors to maintain organ perfusion and coordinate transportation and labeling of organs.
