Job summary

JobDiva, Inc. is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Design Engineer to spearhead on-site design activities for complex projects in Austin.

You will develop concepts, drawings, and specifications, collaborating with peers, SMEs, and BIM designers to ensure accuracy and timeliness. The role requires strong Revit design experience, NFPA code knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior staff while coordinating with vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge and design experience with Fire Alarm Systems and related equipment (including VESDA).
• Autodesk Revit design experience.
• Experience installing, inspecting or testing fire alarm systems.
• Familiarity with Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary assessments and concept creation.
• Lead designs with peers, SMEs, and BIM designers.
• Resolve internal and external problems.
• Produce drawings and specifications.
• Provide on-site construction administration services.
• Ensure accessibility for customers and vendors.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• Preliminary assessments.
• Concept creation.
• Leading designs with support from your peers, SME's, and BIM designers.
• Internal and external problem resolution.
• Drawing and specification production.
• On-site construction administration services.
• Customer and vendor accessibility.

Education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Strong knowledge and design experience with Fire Alarm Systems and related manufacturers' equipment, including VESDA systems.
• Autodesk Revit design experience.
• Experience in the field installing, inspecting or testing fire alarm systems.
• Familiarity with the following manufacturers: Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis.
• Knowledge of IBC, IFC, NFPA101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
• Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements.
• Knowledge of general design and construction specifications.
• Experience leading projects and managing resources.

Preferred:

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Knowledge of NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 13 codes.
• Design experience in data centers.
• Experience mentoring junior staff.
• Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects.
