Job summary

Katalyst CRO seeks a qualified engineer to lead fire alarm design projects in Portland, OR. You will collaborate with Peers, SMEs, and BIM designers to create compliant designs and resolve issues on site.

The role requires hands-on experience with Notifier/Edwards/Xtralis systems, NFPA standards, and BIM workflows. You will manage drawing production, inspections, and client coordination for complex installations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and PE preferred.
• Strong knowledge and design experience with Fire Alarm Systems and NFPA standards.
• Autodesk Revit design experience.
• Experience installing, inspecting or testing fire alarm systems.
• Familiarity with Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis equipment.
• Knowledge of IBC, NFPA 101, NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC).
• Experience leading projects and managing resources.
• Design experience in data centers (preferred).

Education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Strong knowledge and design experience with Fire Alarm Systems and related manufacturers' equipment, including VESDA systems.
• Autodesk Revit design experience.
• Experience in the field installing, inspecting or testing fire alarm systems.
• Familiarity with the following manufacturers: Notifier, Edwards, and Xtralis.
• Knowledge of IBC, IFC, NFPA101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
• Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements.
• Knowledge of general design and construction specifications.
• Experience leading projects and managing resources.

Preferred:

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Knowledge of NFPA 75, NFPA 76, NFPA 2001, and NFPA 13 codes.
• Design experience in data centers.
• Experience mentoring junior staff.
• Experience estimating and scheduling mid-to-large-scale projects.
