Job summary

City Schools Of Decatur seeks a Safety and Security Associate to support districtwide security operations, life safety programs, and emergency preparedness. The role focuses on readiness of security systems, incident response, and workforce training across school sites.

The position reports to the Director of Safety and Security and emphasizes documentation, testing procedures, and cross-department collaboration to ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• At least 5+ years of relevant safety, security operations, emergency management, facilities life safety, or related experience.
• Safety training and certificates.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain records, analyze incidents, communicate across departments, and train adult learners.
• Ability to complete district-required background screening and required safety/emergency management training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support security operations center readiness, video surveillance, access control, and incident mapping.
• Coordinate with facilities, IT, and external vendors on life-safety systems and maintenance.
• Deliver training on SRP, emergency notifications, and crisis activation workflows.
• Prepare dashboards on alarm/system availability, drills, and training completion.
• Collaborate with multiple departments on integrated emergency response validation.
