Job summary

Obra Capital is seeking an Associate, Insurance Accounting to join the Finance & Accounting team with a focus on life insurance investment portfolios. This role supports accounting, reporting, and cash control for portfolios backed by life insurance assets and related financing structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience, from Big Four or other public firm servicing insurance clients.
• Working knowledge of GAAP accounting; familiarity with insurance investment structures or policy valuation preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with general ledger or portfolio accounting systems a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support accounting and financial reporting for life insurance–related investments and entities.
• Process daily wire transactions, cash transfers, and funding across life insurance portfolios.
• Reconcile investment accounts, premiums, and cash movements for life insurance assets.
• Record and maintain general ledger activity for insurance-linked assets and financing structures.
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entries and schedules.
• Coordinate with investment, operations, and actuarial teams on accounting treatment of life insurance policies and reserves.
• Support audit requests, portfolio reviews, and ad hoc projects in life insurance investments.
• Contribute to process improvements, internal controls, and system integrations across finance.
