Job summary

The Husband & Wife Law Team in Phoenix, AZ seeks an experienced Lien Negotiator Attorney to manage disbursements in a high-volume personal injury practice. You will lead a team of reduction specialists, negotiate reductions with medical providers, hospitals and insurers (including Medicare, Medicaid and ERISA), and draft negotiation letters to secure favorable outcomes for clients.

• Strong legal writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of reduction specialists in negotiations with medical providers, hospitals, insurers and lien administrators.
• Draft formal negotiation letters and conduct verbal negotiations by phone when needed.
• Mentor paralegals, lien reduction specialists, and attorneys; supervise staff.
• Lead initiatives to improve workflow efficiency and turnaround time in disbursement processes.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Lien Negotiator Attorney to support the final stage of disbursing our clients’ settlement funds. This attorney will lead negotiations for payment to medical lienholders, medical providers, government lienholders, health insurance companies and more in a high-volume personal injury law firm. This attorney will work with a team of reduction specialists to perfect each client's disbursement and to obtain the best possible reductions in the minimum time.

What You'll Do

Negotiations & Reductions

• Lead a team of dedicated reduction specialists who negotiate reductions with medical providers, hospitals, insurance carriers (including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA), and third-party lien administrators
• Personally negotiate reductions when needed with medical providers, hospitals, insurance carriers (including Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA), and third-party lien administrators
• Approve and when needed draft formal written negotiation letters and conduct verbal negotiations by phone

Leadership & Staff Supervision

• Mentor team members including paralegals, our lien reduction specialists, and attorneys
• Assign tasks and provide feedback on disbursement and lien negotiation strategies to our reduction specialists
• Lead initiatives to improve workflow efficiency and turnaround time

What We’re Looking For

• Juris Doctor (JD) required, active license in good standing
• 5+ years in personal injury law, including experience in lien resolution and accounting
• 2+ years managerial experience, preferably overseeing legal/financial operations
• Demonstrated experience in direct negotiation (both written and verbal) with medical providers and lien holders
• Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, ERISA, and hospital lien laws
• Strong legal writing and verbal communication skills for professional negotiations
