Job summary

The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a Licensing Specialist for the Northern Region to ensure licensed providers meet applicable Rules and Regulations through inspections, investigations and technical guidance. The role monitors compliance, issues licenses, and recommends actions.

It requires daytime travel and telework (100% remote) with occasional on-site meetings at the Central Office in Richmond; applicants should live within 30–40 miles

Qualifications

• Understanding of clinical assessments and how they tie to service plan development and implementation.
• Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, mental health diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities.
• Administrative, management and/or quality assurance experience with public and private service delivery systems.
• Experience in interpreting regulations and policies.
• Ability to develop professional relationships and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor provider compliance by reviewing complaints and reports of serious incidents and conducting inspections and investigations.
• Issue and modify licenses and review requests to modify services.
• Provide regulatory technical guidance to providers on compliance and corrective actions.
• Recommend licensing actions based on regulatory findings.
• Travel domestically for field work with possible on-site meetings at the Central Office.
