Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services seeks Licensing Specialists in the Eastern Region to support licensure, inspections, and regulatory actions for providers serving individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health, and substance use disorders.

This field role requires travel within Eastern Virginia and is approved for 100% telework with occasional onsite meetings at the Central Office in Richmond.

Qualifications

• Understanding of clinical assessments linked to service plans.
• Experience with substance use disorders, mental health, or developmental disabilities.
• Regulatory interpretation and policy guidance experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide regulatory technical assistance to licensed providers.
• Conduct inspections and investigations as required.
• Issue and modify licenses; review requests to modify services.
• Advise on compliance and corrective actions.
• Travel within the Eastern Region; occasional overnight travel.
