Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to perform a wide range of patient care activities in an outpatient setting. You will work under licensed staff and physicians, delivering high-quality care as part of a total health care team.

The role emphasizes patient education, clinical support, and collaboration with the care team, with a day shift and regular schedule.

Formación

• Education: Completion of a Board of Nursing Accredited program of vocational nursing.
• License/Certification: Current Vocational Nursing license in Texas; NCLEX-PN on first attempt for new graduates.

Visa Information

Position Description

Employees in this classification are responsible for performing awide variety of patient care activities in an assigned specialty orsub-specialty outpatient clinic. Work is performed under thedirection of a licensed staff nurse and/or physician as part of atotal health care team in providing complete evaluations topatients. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions,necessitating a high degree of contact with patient, families andclinic personnel.

Major/Essential Functions

• Greet and assist patients in a professional, compassionatemanner to promote a positive patient experience and supportive careenvironment.
• Provide guidance to patients' needs within the clinic and overthe phone.
• Coordinate surgical scheduling and provide clinical supportincluding injections, casting and splinting assistance, wound care,dressing changes, and follow-up care in accordance with providerorders and established protocols.
• Educate patients and families by providing instruction ontreatments, medications, self-care techniques, and follow-upcare.
• Collaborate with health care team members to ensure patientneeds are met.
• Obtain, document, and report patient vital signs, healthhistories, and clinical observations while assisting providers withexaminations, treatments, and procedures.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary clinical environment by cleaningexam rooms and properly sterilizing, disinfecting, and preparingmedical equipment and supplies.

Required Qualifications

Education: Completion of a Board of Nursing Accredited program ofvocational nursing or scheduled to complete a program of vocationalnursing within 120 days of applying for a position.

License/Certification: Current Vocational Nursing license in thestate of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from theBoard of Nursing to practice vocational nursing pending fulllicensure in the state of Texas. New graduates must pass theNational Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) on the first attempt.

Experience: No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Orthopedics working with patients.
