Job summary

BHC Alhambra Hospital in Rosemead, California is seeking a Licensed Psychiatric Technician to join our night shift team. You will provide psychiatric nursing care under RN supervision, monitor patients, and document progress toward treatment goals.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from an accredited vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a psychiatric technician.
• Experience: LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with child/adolescent development exposure preferred.
• Licensure: Licensed vocational nurse or Psychiatric Technician license.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect data needed for portions of the integrated assessment.
• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe for and document changes in patient appearance, behavior and progress toward treatment goals.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Report signs and symptoms of infection to the Charge Nurse.

Job Description: The LPT performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately collect data needed for the appropriate portion of the integrated assessment.
• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe for, and document changes in patient’s appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a psychiatric technician, preferably with education in Child and Adolescent Development.

Experience: Minimum one (1) year LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months experience in the specialized area of Child and Adolescent Development preferred.

Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational nursing from the State Board of Nursing or Psychiatric Technicians.
