University Behavioral Health of Denton, a private freestanding psychiatric hospital, is seeking an LVN to support inpatient psychiatric care in Denton, TX. The role involves administering medications, monitoring patients’ status, and documenting progress on the treatment plan.

The position is full-time, nights (7p-7:30a) with rotating weekends. Requires graduation from an accredited LVN program, Texas licensure, CPR, and medication administration competency.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited vocational/practical nursing program.
• Minimum one year as an LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred.
• Licensed to practice vocational/practical nursing from the State Board.
• Must pass a medication administration exam; CPR certification required; complete Handle with Care (HWC) training within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior and treatment plan progress.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the provider and unit nurse.
• Report signs and symptoms of infection to appropriate providers and unit staff.

Position Summary:

The LVN performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Chief Nursing Officer in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders, administering medications, and other duties in the LVN scope of practice.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the provider and unit nurse.
• Report signs and symptoms of infection in patients to the Charge provider and unit nurse.
