Job summary
Haven Animal Hospital in Grand Haven, MI is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join our small-animal practice. You will support the veterinarian in dental procedures, surgeries, radiographs and other patient care while communicating with clients in a caring, professional manner.
The ideal candidate is an LVT with laboratory, diagnostic and treatment experience, able to lift 50 lbs, stand long periods, and learn PIMS software.
Qualifications
- Licensed in the LVT program from an accredited school.
- Ability to work with computers and learn PIMS Software.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
- Able to stand for long periods.
- Team player with positive, energetic attitude.
- Experience with labs, diagnostics & treatments.
- Recognize behaviors in animals.
- Learn medical terminology and procedures.
- Adapt to different needs of staff.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Communicate well with others.
Responsibilities
- Manage the care of hospitalized animals and follow up.
- Safely move a surgery patient from start to finish through a procedure.
- Perform ear cytologies, fecal cytologies & blood draws.
- Set IV catheters in multiple sites; vaccine preparation; monitor TPRs; set up x-ray.
- Assist receptionist by answering phones and passing messages to staff.
