Job summary

Animal Humane Society is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary clinic team. You will work with veterinarians and staff to provide high-quality care, support exams, anesthesia, dentistry, and client education, while maintaining medical records and ensuring compassionate service.

Work is full-time in a clinical setting with opportunities to engage in a wide range of procedures, from routine care to diagnostic support, in a mission-driven animal welfare organization.

Qualifications

• Current veterinary technician license in good standing, or ability to obtain Minnesota licensure before employment.
• Completion of education, exam, and qualifications to practice as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Minnesota.
• Knowledge of veterinary medical technology, procedures, patient care, and safety practices.
• Ability to perform veterinary technical skills within the scope of practice for a Licensed Veterinary Technician.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, multitasking, and time management.
• Ability to accurately maintain medical records and follow established protocols.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
• Computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft products.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care under veterinarians' direction, supporting exams, diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and client education.
• Obtain and document patient histories, weights, temperatures, and vital signs.
• Handle and restrain animals during procedures and monitor medical status.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with anesthesia and recovery.
• Fill prescriptions and ensure DEA-compliant handling of controlled substances.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate care plans to clients.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and treatment areas.
