Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno is seeking a licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department. This role supports anesthesia, monitors patients, and provides nursing care according to hospital standards.

You will perform IV catheter placement, assist clinicians, maintain sterility, and contribute to high-quality care for pets. Competitive pay with shift differentials for nights and weekends, plus benefits.

Qualifications

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department!

Pay Scale (LVT Level I): $22.25 - $32.00/Hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Can follow detailed orders and builds trust with the clinician quickly.
• Skilled in intubation, extubating, and monitoring anesthetic procedures.
• Understands the importance of sterility in all procedures performed and has prior knowledge and experience with sterilization processes.
• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connect patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
