Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Reno seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Surgery Department. You will assist anesthesia, monitor patients, and provide nursing care for surgical cases in a fast-paced hospital environment.

We offer competitive pay ($22.25–$32.00/hr), shift differentials, and broad benefits. This is a full-time on-site position designed for experienced LVTs who thrive in team-based care.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician required to join Surgery team.
• Skilled in anesthesia monitoring, intubation, extubation, and sterile technique.
• Experience with IV catheters, fluid therapy, and vitals monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed orders and support clinicians with anesthesia care.
• Maintain sterility and hospital standards of care.
• Provide nursing care for stable patients per hospital policy.
• Place peripheral IV catheters and manage IV fluids.
• Set up and operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Monitor patient responses to therapy and alert physicians as needed.

BluePearlPet Hospital in Reno is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Department!

Pay Scale (LVT Level I): $22.25 - $32.00/Hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

As a Surgery VeterinaryTechnician,you will:

• Can follow detailed orders and builds trust with the clinician quickly.
• Skilled in intubation, extubating, and monitoring anesthetic procedures.
• Understands the importance of sterility in all procedures performed and has prior knowledge and experience with sterilization processes.
• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.
• Understands normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
• Able to set up intravenous fluids.
• Administers subcutaneous fluids.
• Canoperateall brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Able to disconnect and connectpatientfrom intravenous fluids aseptically.
• Ability tomonitorpatient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
